Next recordings
the 6 Ysaÿe sonatas’ recording will come out this year, in september. You’ll find very soon more infos about the label, worldwide distributed. Already planned is also the recording in April 2010, with the Bienne symphonic orchestra of all pieces for violin and orchestra by Ysaÿe, with Jean-Jacques Kantorow, conductor; and in june 2010, the violin & piano concerti by Mendelssohn and Haydn with the orchestre de chambre de Toulouse; this strong collaboration with the orchestra will lead also to a tour in 2011 playing different violin concerti, Rachel will spend happy time in the beautiful Toulouse’ s region...

Concerts as a soloist
In 2009, you will hear Rachel as a soloist in wonderful concerti: highlights are the Glazounov with the Sinfonietta Lausanne im march, Mendelssohn and Schubert also in march, Saint-Saëns 3rd with the Orchestre de chambre fribourgeois, Paganini 2nd « la campanella », Lalo symphonie espagnole, the rare but fantastic Faure violin concerto and others... see the schedule.
For 2010, Lalo, Mendelssohn, Ysaÿe, Paderewski, Schumann, Bruch, Haydn, Berg and many more are already planned...

Paganini, 2nd violin concerto « la campanella »
The famous and brilliant concerto will be played next year in june with the « Orchestre de chambre de Bienne » and Jean Sidler, conductor. It will be the first time that Rachel will play this inflamed piece. It will be also the second collaboration with the orchestra, after the successful concerts with Bruch g min. violin concerto of last year.

Mr Jacques Ysaÿe’s words on Rachel’s CD | post 21 FEB 2008, 23.00:

"I can't find the words to describe how remarkable this absolutely perfect execution sounds.
I was deeply moved when I listened to "Rêve d'Enfant": this delicate work is discreetly enhanced through the utter sensitivity released by this trascending interpretation. What an artist! and her technique also is exceptional, at its best in Ravel's "Tzigane".
I can't wait to receive the recording of Ysaye's six sonates by Rachel Kolly d'Alba. No doubt, she will compete with the very best. My father used to believe the peak of interpretation had been reached in 1975 by a famous American violinist, but since then, there might have been better performers or more brilliant recordings... although the interpretation always lacked some "colour". Ysaye's sonates are not only a supreme exercise in violinistic technique, but they must also be thought of in the light of my grand-father's maxime: "In everything you do, aim at emotion, reach the heart".

Berg violin concerto and Mendelssohn violin concerto on the same evening
The 5th of july will be special for Rachel. The festival in Poitiers (France) proposes this year to build the festival on a « childhood theme ». Rachel will play two violin concertos on the same evening. First the amazing and inspirated concerto in d minor by Mendelssohn -written when he was 12 only -, then heavenly Berg « à la mémoire d’un ange » violin concerto , the master piece of the XXth century and one of Rachel’s favourite.

Ysaÿe all solo sonatas
French: fin février, j'enregistrerai les 6 sonates pour violon seul de Eugène Ysaÿe. Ce sont des pièces qui m'accompagnent depuis 10 ans et que j'aime énormément! En 2007, par exemple, j'ai joué la 5ème durant la tournée du choeur des XVI (Hérémance, Villars sur Glâne, Gruyères), la 3ème ce mois encore (Lausanne au musée olympique et au Palais de Beaulieu) et tout prochainement la seconde (Obsession) sur le thème du dies Irae au centre Paul Klee. La première fois que je jouais l'"Obsession", c'était au Festival Menuhin en 2001. Ou encore, la dernière fois que je jouais la 1ère sonate, c'était au Chili à Santiago. Bref, une longue histoire qui se développe! Mais les concerts dont je me réjouis avec impatience seront sans doute les 10 et 22 février ou je jouerai les 6 sonates durant le même concert (au musée olympique ainsi qu'à Vevey à l'église Sainte Claire) ---> voir agenda 2008. Il parait que c'est un tour de force. Moi, je n'y vois que du bonheur et surtout un aboutissement logique de mon travail. à suivre, donc... pour tous renseignements ou "préréservations": mon adresse électronique.

French: Le 5 juillet 2008 aura lieu un concert particulier: le Festival de Poitiers articule cette année son festival sur l'enfance. J'y jouerai deux concerti durant le même concert. Tout d'abord le génial concerto de Mendelssohn Op. posth. composé lorsque le compositeur avait ... 12 ans, suivi du fameux concerto à la mémoire d'un ange d'Alban Berg que je me réjouis déjà de travailler tant je le considère comme LE chef d'oeuvre du XXème siècle.

Chamber music with Thomas Demenga, Hansheinz Schneeberger and friends
French: le 7 juin, à Bern, 18.30, vivez quelque chose d'unique avec le Quintett de Schubert pour deux violoncelles en compagnie de la légende du violon Hansheinz Schneeberger ainsi que le génial Thomas Demenga (violoncelle), également une pièce de Demenga, sa "Palindromanie"... à l'Auditorium du magnifique centre Paul Klee. La suite du concert avec le magicien Alex Potter pendant un repas gastronomique. Une soirée magique en perspective!

E.
